About Santa Fe Zoo

The Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo is a small zoo located on the north west side of the Santa Fe College campus.  Visitors are welcome to visit the zoo during regular zoo hours.  The zoo does have a full-time staff who are helped by students to maintain the zoo. This is an AZA-accredited zoo.

This Florida zoo is situated in a wooded area. A quarter mile trail winds through the area. The trail is wheelchair accessible and well shaded. The Santa Fe Zoo is home to both native and exotic animals. Some of the animals you can expect to see are Asian otter, caracal, Matschie’s tree kangaroo, ocelot, lemur, capuchin, gibbon, parrots, bald eagle, barred owl, black swan, peacocks, poison arrow frogs, alligator, python, turtles, spiders and gecko.

Guided tours are available four days a week, three times a day with an advanced appointment.  Guided tours take about 45 minutes - 1 hour.  If you are interested in a tour, you can call the phone number listed at the beginning of this article.

Although this is a small zoo, it is well maintained.  It will take from one to three hours to go through if you walk at a casual pace and depending on how much time you spend at each exhibit. Most of the students are more then willing to answer questions and give you details on the animals or the exhibits.
