May 14, 2017 - Mother’s Day. The Minnesota Zoo offers FREE admission for moms both Saturday and Sunday.

September 11, 2016 - Grandparents day.  All grandparents receive FREE admission when they bring their grandchilden. No word yet on 2017.

July 1 – July 9, 2017 - Military Discount Days - Current, former, and retired members and family members of the US Military, National Guard, and Reserve in the United States (including Puerto Rico) military personnel receive free admission, free parking, and half-price admission for family members. Valid military ID or proof of military service is required.

November 11, 2016 – January 2, 2017 - Military Discount Days - Current, former, and retired members and family members of the US Military, National Guard, and Reserve in the United States (including Puerto Rico) military personnel receive free admission, free parking, and half-price admission for family members. They also receive a $3 discount in IMAX. Valid military ID or proof of military service is required.

Military personnel receive $2 off regular admission and $1 off regular admission for family members every day of the year. Proper ID is required.

AAA members can receive a discount on admission when you provide a proper ID.

There are several group rates. Reservations are required.

If you have a MIN EBT card, MHCP card, WIC folder or Headstart acceptance letter, you could quality for the Minnesota Zoo's Free to Explore program. This program offers FREE regular admission to those that qualify. Show your documentation, a photo ID and proof of MN residency. Some restrictions may apply.

Seniors age 65 and up can receive a Minnesota Zoo discount ticket and Zoo and Imax discount.

Some companies offer a Corporate Discount Card to their employees.  Check with Human Resources at your company.

You can often find Minnesota Zoo deals and promos on the zoo’s official website.

Local hotels often have a Minnesota Zoo and Hotel Packages that includes your hotel stay as well as tickets to the zoo.

If you are a member of another zoo, you may qualify for discounted or FREE zoo tickets.

Memberships include FREE zoo admission and FREE parking during regular zoo hours, special member events, discount admission to more than 100 zoos throughout the country, discounts for your guests, education classes, camps, overnights, at the zoo store, at the IMAX theatre and more.

About Minnesota Zoo

The Minnesota Zoo is home to over 4,100 animals from over 500 different species. Many of the animals that live here are among the rare, threatened or endangered.

This Apple Valley zoo is divided into several areas.  They include: Minnesota Trail, Tropics, Trail, Russia’s Grizzly Coast, Northern Trail, Discovery Bay, Family Farm, Central Plaza, Woodland Adventure and the Bird show.

Discovery Bay is a 218,000 million gallon aquarium that has 6 foot sharks, rays and other marine life.  Guests can touch some of these in an interactive estuary and tide pool.  Other animals you will see here are Atlantic Reef Fishes, seahorse and sea dragons.


Minnesota Zoo Details

The zoo is open every day of the year except for Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.

Minnesota Zoo hours for the zoo change seasonally.  It opens all days of the year at 9am.  Closings range from 4pm to 6pm.  In general, it closes at 4pm throughout the winter months and spring and fall weekdays.  It stays open until 6pm in the spring through fall months on the weekends and through the week in the summer.

Regular Minnesota Zoo ticket prices are Adults: $18, Children (3-12): $12 and Children 2 and under are FREE. Over 65 are $12.

Zoo and Imax combo prices are Adults: $25.75, Children (3-12): $18.50 and Children 2 and under are FREE.

Parking is $7 for cars.  Parking is FREE for zoo members during regular zoo hours.

Food and drink can be brought into the zoo.  A picnic area is available outside for visitors.
