More Ways to Save At Disney World

Going to Disney on Value or off season is the time to save money on regular prices. Value season can offer discounted prices on hotel and package prices and/or some free perks with a package such as FREE Dining Plans with character meals. In general, the best times to vacation in off season is January after New Year’s Day until just before President’s day in February, the week after Labor Day to the week before Thanksgiving and the week after Thanksgiving to the week before Christmas.

It's not really roughing it at Disney’s Fort Wilderness
Resort & Campground. There’s electricity and sewer, cable TV and tons of things to do. You still get FREE parking and transportation throughout the park too. Tent sites are as little as $55 a night. You can have 10 people on a site, so that is only $5 a night for rooming!  Who needs a Disney coupon with those prices?

The All-Star Music, All-Star Sports and Pop Century Resort are considered Disney's value hotels. They are often cheapest hotels on the property and have all the unique amenities and perks you have come to expect of Disney. They all have a theme-inspired pool, a jogging trail, playground, arcade, food court and show FREE movies for guests at night.

Name brand hotels, such as the Holiday Inn Lake Buena Vista Downtown, that are on Disney property offer a lot of the same perks as the Disney hotels such as FREE shuttle service on a regular basis but have a discount Disney price. They often run very nice specials that include some meals and other perks.

Name brand hotels offer extreme values during the off season. These are not usually posted online ahead of time. You need to wait until you are ready to go and see what deals there are out there.

Another way to save money is just by planning ahead. Going to Disney is very exciting and you and your family want to see it all, especially if you have children of varying ages. For example, if a family of four with a 3 and a 9 year old chooses to go through AAA and get the most basic three-day tickets, which offers for you to see one Disney park a day, it will cost them over $1,000. If they want to go to two parks in a day and they will add on the Park Hopper option, the price jumps to over $1,300. If they also wanted to go to the water parks the price grows again to over $1,500.

Manhattan is half the size of Disney World. Is it even possible to cover that in three days, under the blazing hot sun, with two kids?  You don't want to buy the tickets and then not actually use them to the fullest.  That family could have saved $400 just by planning ahead about what they think they will have time to see.

FREE Stuff to Do at Disney

There are a number of things you can do at Disney World for FREE.

Disney's Boardwalk offers FREE parking if you are not a Disney hotel guest. It features street performers and the Atlantic Dance Hall which is usually FREE.  In addition, there are some things you can do that are low cost.

Downtown Disney has FREE parking.  It has interactive fountains, Lego Imagination Center, a great AMC theater and lots of other things to do including shopping and resturants.

Check out the FREE Disney Wilderness Preserve for some nature time and a hiking trail.

Have a campfire and a movie at Fort Wilderness, if you are a Disney hotel guest.

Take a FREE art class at Disney's Art of animation Resort.  Some restrictions apply.

Have your child's hair sprinkled with confetti and pixie dust at the Harmony Barber Shop on Main Street.

My favorite thing is the fact that you can visit any of the Disney Resort Hotels for FREE and take a Disney tour.  You can look on your own or schedule something more formal. I know from my last trip to Disney that most of these hotels are just as spectacular as Disney World itself is, so they are definitely worth a look.
