Every Tuesday in 2017 is Half-priced Birmingham Zoo Tickets. Some restrictions may apply.
May 20, 2017 - 7:30 am - 10:30 am, Annual Birmingham Zoo Run. All participants receive FREE zoo tickets and additional discount tickets for family good for the day of the run.
May 27-29, 2017 - Memorial Day Weekend - FREE admission to veterans, active and retired, and dependents with proper proof of military service. Some restrictions may apply.
June 17, 18, 2017 - Receive a FREE child's admission to the Birmingham Zoo with the purchase of a full-price adult admission ticket.
July 1 - 4, 2017 - FREE admission to veterans as well as all active and retired military and their dependents, with proof of military service.
In the past, all Shelby County residents and employees revives 50% off admission, and a discount on membership purchases in July. No word yet for 2017.
In the past, FREE zoo admission has been offered for those ages 55 and up in September. ID must be shown at gate. No world yet on 2017.
In past years on July 4th, All retired and active military as well as their dependents received FREE Birmingham zoo admission with a valid military ID. No word yet on 2017.
The Birmingham Zoo offers a group discount to groups of 15 or more. Non-education groups can save a couple dollars per ticket and educational and non-profit groups can save over half-off the regular zoo ticket price. Reservations required.
Get cheap tickets for Birmingham Zoo by using the Senior rate that is offered to all those 65 and over.
All active duty Military receive a discount on daily admission. Proper ID required.
The zoo Train Ride is an additional fee. You can save a bit of money if you buy a three Train Ride package.

About Birmingham Zoo
This Birmingham Zoo has been rated Alabama’s Number One Tourist Attraction by the Alabama Bureau of Tourism. The Alabama zoo is home to over 750 animals with over 250 species from 6 continents. Animals include lions, wallabies, snakes, flamingos, birds, tortoises, rhinos, monkeys and giraffes.
Trails of Africa is one of the first mixed species exhibits that features a bachelor elephant herd, red river hogs, giraffes, rhinos and antelopes together. Visitors will be able to view the animals in the open environment from the ground or the air.
Other areas of the zoo include Fine Feathered Friends, Sensational Sea Lions, Gentle Giants, Savannah Safari, Cold Hearted Snakes, Ferocious Felines, Monkey Business, Wild in Your Backyard and Child’s Play. In addition, Birmingham Zoo has a Butterfly Encounter in the spring.

Regular Birmingham Zoo ticket prices are: Seniors (Over 65) $14, Adults $16, Children (Ages 2-12) $11 and Children under 2 are FREE.
Birmingham Zoo hours are 9am - 5pm everyday. Summer hours are sometimes until 7pm. The zoo sometimes has early closings.
The zoo is closed on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. It is open Christmas Eve from 9am - 1pm.
The zoo offers the Train Ride, Carousel Ride, Lorikeet Feeding and the Foam Zone for an additional fee. Tokens for the rides can be bought at the front gate and at ride location.
Food and drink are not allowed in the zoo. However, there are picnic tables offered just outside the zoo for guests that bring their own food.
